Its time for....
This week I did alright!
Only a few things were wasted.
Ethan spilled a whole bowl of granola all over the floor....poor guy.
He was taking a bite and the bowl just slid off the table.
(Not a big deal. But it was waste, so I took a picture.)
I found out that the rosemary I had in my spice cabinet expired in April of 2008....oops. No wonder it wasn't tasting like much anymore! Sneaky Rosemary.
I got some fresh rosemary recently- hubby brought it home from work. I had so much I didn't know what to do with it.
Then my friend gave me a food dehydrator, and I dried that rosemary out and now I have half a quart sized jar full of fragrant, beautiful rosemary to use for Rosemary Tea when I get a headache (which is pretty often) or for cooking.
Half of the rosemary I had hanging got all brown and moldy looking, so I had to throw it out.
I should've dried it in the dehydrator as well, but I just never got around to it. I wish I had!
That's all the waste I had this week though. Not bad, huh??
My fridge is filled to the gills from my grocery trip this week.
(I buy food for the entire month in one trip-minus one smaller trip midway through the month for more milk and produce)
Hopefully, nothing will go bad this week.
I've already thrown some suspect bananas in the dehydrator to make banana chips; I'm excited to see how they will turn out!
Do you have a food dehydrator? What are some of your favorite things to dry? I'm new at this, so I'd love to get some ideas from you all. :)
This post was shared at The Frugal Girl, who is the brains behind all of this food waste documentation. I'm so grateful for her, since I've joined in with Food Waste Friday, our waste has dramatically decreased, saving us money in the process!
