I buy the HUGE baking potatoes at Costco (like 25 lbs of them) and big 10lb bags of carrots, onions so I always have those. And then for greens and veggies that spoil more quickly, we usually just eat meals with those at the beginning of the month and save the soups, roasts, etc that you use root veggies for the second half of the month since those veggies keep much better. :)Becca Swanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09445141282132937531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559916076228265228.post-16400272254377865612012-03-10T10:27:30.086-06:002012-03-10T10:27:30.086-06:00I've more or less gotten our main shopping dow...I've more or less gotten our main shopping down to every two weeks, but after that we need produce. I make a menu plan every month, and then stick to it as best I can..although last month I kinda failed at it and we ended up eating out a few times because I was lazy. But usually, we shop at Costco so we get huge quantities of dry goods that last us all month, and I freeze a lot of meat/bake our own bread and granola so we really only have to do a small grocery shop mid-month for the essentials like milk and produce, maybe eggs and oats.Becca Swanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09445141282132937531noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559916076228265228.post-80556948492313499312012-03-09T15:18:24.641-06:002012-03-09T15:18:24.641-06:00I'm impressed that you are well enough planned...I'm impressed that you are well enough planned to your grocery shopping only once a month.Live and Learnhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13493777474885053903noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5559916076228265228.post-65825221906250548802012-03-09T14:41:44.764-06:002012-03-09T14:41:44.764-06:00We have some deer meat in the freezer that I need ...We have some deer meat in the freezer that I need to defrost to make into jerky- I LOVE venison jerky!!

And I can't wait til strawberry season is here and I can get a bunch of them for really cheap. Now you have some free spices, which is even better.
We dehydrate bananas, apples, strawberries, and deer jerky. My kids love all of it. Oh yeah, we did tomaotes once and they were very good too.Dianna @ practicingfrugalhttp://www.practicingfrugal.com/noreply@blogger.com
